It keeps me active and gives me motivation to get out of bed in the morning. Also, roller skating is cool and the people in the scene are even cooler.

I love, this sport is so body-positive and celebrates women of all shapes, sizes, ages, and skill levels. I love how I can come onto the track and learn from some amazingly nimble, hard-working, fast, tough athletes and do something totally new that I've never tried before.

I like roller derby first because of the team aspect. You have to work together to achieve something bigger than yourself. The people also involved in roller derby are very welcoming, I'm one of those weird why ones that often doesn't fit into that normal sized box of society. Its nice to feel welcomed and to have a place somewhere. Its also a fantastic workout and a fun one that you don't really notice until you're sore the next day. Lastly because of the looks and comments you get when you tell someone you play roller derby.

This sport has shown me that if I can endure and grow from the physical and mental joys and pains of roller derby, then I can survive the stresses of life. I have also found a release for my need to hit people.

Besides being a part of such an inclusive feminist sport- I love the challenge that roller derby gives me, both physically and mentally. It forces me to really be mindful of where I am in the present moment. It's basically the best self-care ever!
